Israeli Bathrooms

Updated: Dec 31, 2022

Esther was recommended to me by an old client of mine and asked me to redesign the two bathrooms in her apartment in the center of Givataim. In light of her and her partner’s advancing age, they asked me to design them spacious, accessible, comfortable and aesthetic bathrooms.

The first thing I noticed was the wasted balcony space and I worked out how to use it in a way that would provide Esther and her partner with the comfort they want in their bathing space.

In the plan that existed before the changes, you can see the empty balcony space where only the washing machine and dryer stood.

My involvement in the project is always total. From the moment of drawing, planning and modeling through to completion.

That’s why in a project like this where the tiles are different and the final look will be greatly influenced by the placement of each and every tile, I arranged them myself into sequences at the construction site and specified that the final design should be exactly as I planned it.

You can see in the picture the finished wall before the cabinets that were designed by me and built especially for the space were fitted.

The carpentry details were designed for maximum storage and ease of use. Carved handles in the in the lines of the cabinet that do not take up space and are easy to use. The glossy white epoxy finish was chosen to compliment the wall decorated with the geometric tiles.

Three different methods of opening, each closet designed for its specific needs. Master/guest bathroom with the deep utility closet I designed for the washing machines and cleaning supplies.

A straw basket for toilet paper, a small detail in Esther and her partner’s bathroom that adds warmth and complements the blue jeans and white colors.

To conclude, the designed bathing spaces are also wheelchair accessible, which is what Esther requested at the beginning of the process. They reminded me of the folds of the Israeli flag in their colors and shapes so I called them “Israeli bathrooms.”
